MV in Court?

This is the ludicrous photograph the Media (MSNBC, ABC, Fox, and CNN (basically, any AP regurgitating network)) has decided to use for the new Michael Vick story. Now, I don’t know exactly where this photo is from, or when it was taken, but I quote: “Vick was dressed in a black-and-white striped prison suit and apologized to the court and his family.” (msnbc.com). WHERE IS THAT PICTURE???

You (media) make him look like a great upstanding citizen in that suit! Show him in the prison garb! That’s what I want to see.

And now a word from Michael Vick:

Yeah. He’s a real upstanding citizen. One of the highest paid players in the NFL. Does anyone really think the NFL will go any further than suspending him (yeah, sure, he lost his lucrative endorsements too)? And, why wasn’t his property seized? Isn’t this a felony? His house is for sale now. Who gets those profits? And he was only fined just under $1,000,000 to give to dog shelters (or something to that affect).

I quote again: “We all make mistakes,” Eanes said. “I don’t support the situation with the animals, but I support him. I believe his apology is sincere.” This guy, standing in the court line wearing an M.V. jersey.

Give me a minute. I need to stop laughing.

I’m a dog lover. I don’t care if it’s a poodle (my least favorite), or even a cat, or any animal (except maybe possum), no animal deserves the treatment the pit bulls rec’d for not performing well. I would go so far as to say, even humans, but humans know better. At least we’re supposed to. I also believe in hunting for food. Not sport. I hunt. Or as I say, “I go out in the woods with a rifle”.

But this guy should lose everything. Maybe I’m over doing it, but this guy, a star quarterback, 1st round draft pick, $130,000,000 contract (2004) making him the highest paid player, PLUS endorsements! C’MON! And he not only illegally fought dogs, but tortured dogs, and kill (dare I say murder) dogs that didn’t perform to his standards. AND, then he gets busted for smoking pot on top of that, violating his release conditions!! I quote, yet again: “Vick took a plea deal on a lesser charge and is not really going to be punished for the serious things that he did like running an illegal gambling ring that may have led to the murder of a North Carolina man, and killing and torturing dogs.” (Sack Vick.net).

I say put his ass away for a long time, and get him out of the NFL!

For the record, I could give a dog’s butt about NFL players personal lives. But I do care about the NFL and it’s image. Is that so wrong for a fan to say? I think not. First it’s O.J., now it’s Vick. There’s plenty of in betweens an before’s too (a la Joe Namath and booze/women), but I don’t think any compare to the crimes Michael Vick has been convicted and sentenced for (OJ was never convicted).

Is it enough. To prove my point I could post countless pics of dead and destroyed dogs. Dogs that have mauled each other to bloody pulps. But I’m not like that. I can’t stand to look at it. Show me a pic of a dead body and I’ll say nothing. Show me a pic of a dead dog, especially a mauled dog, and I get sick to my stomach.

So, in my opinion, Vick should burn.
